Categories:

1. SICE Annual Conference Young Author's Award (Application [closed]):

Author must be less than 35 years of age at the time of nomination and have not received any award from SICE except Young Author's Award.

2. SICE Annual Conference International Award (Application [closed])

Note: Application to both categories by one paper is acceptable.

Basis of Judgment:

Quality of the paper (originality, impact) and the technical presentation.

The Award Selection Committee will select 5 finalists for Young Author’s Award and 6 finalists for International Award based on the final manuscripts, and the finalists will be noticed before the conference. One Young Author's Award winner and one or two International Award winners will be selected during the conference based on the presentations as well as the quality of the papers.

Presentation:

The winners are awarded at the closing ceremony, and the prize consists of a certificate and a monetary award. All other finalists receive certificates.

Eligibility:

Must be a member of SICE and must be less than 30 years of age at the time of application for the Awards for Basic Research, and less than 35 years of age for the Awards for Practical Application. Also must have not received any award from SICE.

Basis of Judgment:

Technical contributions through presentation of new idea, improvement of theories, exceptional achievement by application to the plants or products within the SICE Field of Interest. Possibility of development will be evaluated as well as the achievements.

Presentation:

The winners are awarded at the general assembly of SICE.

SICE has recently established SICE INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP commemorating its 30th anniversary in 1991. This scholarship is to help those foreign researchers who are young, have potential ability to contribute to the field of Instrument and Control Engineering, and come to Japan to present their papers.

The International Affairs Committee of SICE herewith announces this scholarship, and encourages your application. The application is limited to:

(1) those who are under 40 years old at the moment of application,

(2) those who come to Japan from abroad to attend SICE2004 and present their papers,

(3) those who have sufficient achievements in their fields.

The International Affairs Committee of SICE will select some candidates from applicants and recommend them to the SICE Headquarter, where the winner is decided. 100,000 in Japanese yen will be granted to the winner.
