Registration Information

Registration Fee

To ensure the smooth operation of the conference and avoid long delays at the on-site registration desk, participants are strongly advised to register for the conference in advance.

The fees will automatically change on August 5th, 2014 (Japan standard time).

Full registration includes one banquet ticket. The maximum number of submissions allowed by each applicant depends on the type of registration. One full registration can cover up to two papers. For student registration, the limit is one paper. Additional paper charge is JPY 10,000 / paper,

Cancellation

*In case of cancellation, your registration fee will be refunded after deducting the cancellation fees as shown below.

Author registration for Final Submission paper:

Cancellations made before the July 1 Final Paper Submission deadline will not be subject to a cancellation fee.
Cancellations cannot be accepted after the July 2. Refunds will not be provided after this date.

Regular participant registration:

Cancellations made before the September 1 online registration deadline will not be subject to a cancellation fee.
Cancellations cannot be accepted after the September 2. Refunds will not be provided after this date.

Should a visa be needed, participants should submit the Visa Information Form
MS-Excel file [visa_info_form.xls, 44kB] or PDF file [visa_info_form.pdf, 110kB]
to the Registration Desk a minimum of 6 weeks in advance.

The support conditions below MUST be met BEFORE visa assistance can be provided.

Paper Submission

Paper Types

The SICE Annual Conference 2014 accepts two types of submissions for review.
Both types of papers should be written in English, and will be included in the conference proceedings.

Regular paper: Full papers (6-8 pages in conference format) must be submitted for review. The accepted papers will be submitted to the IEEE Xplore Digital Library.

Normal length for the final manuscript of the regular paper is 6 pages. Papers exceeding 6 pages may be submitted upon payment of overlength page charges. A maximum of 2 extra pages above 6 pages are permitted.


Position paper: Extended abstracts (2 pages of A4, 800-1000 words) must be submitted for review. Full papers (4-6 pages in conference format) will be required for final camera-ready submissions. This category is provided for authors who want to present a timely review of research, a case study, and so on. This type of paper will not be included in the IEEE Xplore Digital Library.

Normal length for the final manuscript of the position paper is 4 pages. Up to 2 extra pages are allowed without overlength page charges.

Note: Due to the limitations of the venue, SICE 2014 has no poster sessions.

Both types of manuscripts should be submitted via PaperPlaza site. Please verify (PIN wizard) the affiliations of you and coauthors, which are registered on the Papercept system, before submission of your manuscript.

For all regular-paper initial submissions, similarity and overlap with prior published materials will be checked. The results willbe used for the paper evaluation. The same check will be performed for all final submissions including position papers.

JCMSI Special Issue

SICE Journal of Control, Measurement, and System Integration (JCMSI) will publish a special issue entitled "the special issue on SICE Annual Conference 2014" in March 2015.
We would like to encourage you to submit the revised / extended version of your paper presented in SICE Annual Conference 2014 (SICE AC 2014). The deadline of the paper submission is September 20, 2014. Please see the details on the web site of JCMSI. In the revised paper, your conference paper presented in SICE AC 2014 must be cited and the additional contribution in the journal paper has to be pointed out explicitly.

Awards and Scholarship

Awards

SICE Annual Conference Award Committee will give awards of the following two categories:
  1. SICE Annual Conference International Award (Speakers of all accepted regular papers will be nominated as candidates for the award.)
  2. SICE Annual Conference Young Author's Award (Under 35 years of age. Application is required.)

Organized Session Submission

Organized Session

The goal of organized sessions is to provide focused discussions on a new topic or innovative applications of a new approach. Each session consists of 5-6 papers which will be reviewed via the normal review process. Both regular and position papers can be included in a session. For session proposals, it is recommended to include a brief statement of the session focus, together with the submission of the individual papers.

The session proposals should be submitted via PaperPlaza site.
